Irmandade da Boa Morte: história, memória e identidade na cidade de Cachoeira no final do século XX (1980 a 1990) Thaiara Alves dos Santos

Abstract

O objetivo deste trabalho foi pesquisar a importância da representação religiosa de matriz africana para a preservação da memória na cidade de Cachoeira. Identificar os elementos da religiosidade ritualística da festa da Boa Morte. Registrar os momentos significativos da realização deste ritual. A metodologia utilizada para atingir os objetivos propostos constou das seguintes etapas: no primeiro momento utilizou fontes primárias, com a realização de trabalho de campo, no intuito de obter informações necessárias ao desenvolvimento da pesquisa, através das entrevistas. No que se refere aos dados secundários, procedeu os levantamentos bibliográficos para revisão da literatura sobre o tema em discussão. Esta pesquisa constatou que as irmãs da Boa Morte ainda que em conseqüência das diversas mudanças culturais, socioeconômicas e religiosas, permanecem encontrando motivos para sua existência, conservando sua tradição com coragem e beleza, preservando elementos característicos das memórias de seus ancestrais. ________________________________________________________________________________________________ The objective of this study was to investigate the importance of religious representation of African origin for the preservation of memory in the town of Cachoeira.
