Diagnóstico e tratamento ortodôntico precoce em paciente com mordida aberta anterior: conhecimento de estudantes de odontologia

Abstract

RESUMO: A mordida aberta anterior é uma das más oclusões de maior comprometimento, estético quanto funcional, definida como a presença de um trespasse vertical negativo entre os dentes antagonistas, que pode ser encontrada nas regiões anterior, posterior ou em todo o arco dentário. Os hábitos bucais deletérios são considerados uma das maiores causas da mordida aberta e são definidos como hábitos orais que se tornam deletérios. O tratamento ideal para a mordida aberta é realizado de forma multidisciplinar e integral para melhorar a resolutividade. Nesse sentido, o objetivo do estudo será analisar o conhecimento dos estudantes de odontologia quanto ao diagnóstico e tratamento ortodôntico precoce em pacientes com mordida aberta anterior. Tendo como objetivos específicos: traçar o perfil sociodemográfico dos estudantes, identificar as dificuldades e facilidades que os estudantes apresentam sobre o tratamento ortodôntico precoce da mordida aberta anterior, verificar, através dos estudantes os conteúdos que são contemplado nas ementas do curso quanto a ortodontia preventiva e interceptativa. Para tanto, foi realizado um estudo descritivo de abordagem quali-quantitativa. O estudo foi realizado em uma instituição de ensino superior em um município do recôncavo da Bahia, onde os participantes foram 61 discentes do curso de Odontologia do 9° e 10° semestres. A coleta de dado deu-se por intermédio de um questionário de intensidade. O estudo foi aprovado pelo Comitê de Ética em pesquisa com o parecer de n°3892634. Após aplicação do questionário, as respostas foram contabilizadas e as notas obtidas na pesquisa avaliadas mediante critérios estabelecidos pela técnica do Grau de Incidência Relativo. A respeito do conhecimento teórico 92% dos discentes concordaram ser necessário identificar suas causas para posteriormente corrigir seus efeitos, e sobre os hábitos deletérios pode-se observar que 93% dos discentes souberam quais foram e que os mesmos podem ocasionar a má oclusão quando usado por longo período de tempo. Já quando foi tratado do conhecimento prático os alunos apontaram facilidade na identificação da mordida aberta anterior, o que demonstrou domínio do assunto, em relação a confecção da grade palatina como intervenção da mordida aberta anterior 46% dos discentes concordaram em saber como proceder para a confecção. O estudo permitiu observar que os discentes obtiveram de forma geral uma boa performance no que diz respeito ao conhecimento da temática, o que colaborou com a capacitação dos discentes à respeito da formação acadêmica, considerando que saber o correto diagnóstico e tratamento precoce da mordida aberta anterior são fundamentais para formar um profissional de qualidade e munido de embasamento científico para sua atuação posterior. _______________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT: The anterior open bite is one of the malocclusions with greater impairment, aesthetic as well as functional, defined as the presence of a negative vertical overlap between the antagonistic teeth, which can be found in the anterior, posterior or in the entire dental arch. The harmful oral habits are considered one of the biggest causes of open bite and are defined as oral habits that become deleterious. The ideal treatment for open bite is performed in a multidisciplinary and comprehensive way to improve resolvability. In this sense, the objective of the study will be to analyze the knowledge of dentistry students regarding early orthodontic diagnosis and treatment in patients with anterior open bite. Having as specific objectives: to outline the students' sociodemographic profile, to identify the difficulties and facilities that students have about the early orthodontic treatment of the anterior open bite, to verify, through the students, the contents that are included in the course menus regarding preventive orthodontics and interceptive. For this, a descriptive study with a qualitative and quantitative approach was carried out. The study was carried out in a higher education institution in a municipality in the recôncavo of Bahia, where the participants were 61 students from the Dentistry course of the 9th and 10th semesters. Data collection took place through an intensity questionnaire. The study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee under protocol number 3892634. After applying the questionnaire, responses were counted and the grades obtained in the survey were evaluated using criteria established by the Relative Degree of Incidence technique. Regarding theoretical knowledge, 92% of the students agreed that it was necessary to identify its causes in order to correct its effects later, and about the harmful habits, it can be observed that 93% of the students knew what they were and that they can cause malocclusion when used by long period of time. When it was dealt with practical knowledge, students pointed out the ease in identifying the anterior open bite, which demonstrated mastery of the subject, in relation to the construction of the palatal grid as an intervention of the anterior open bite 46% of the students agreed to know how to proceed with the preparation . The study allowed to observe that the students obtained in general a good performance with regard to the knowledge of the theme, which collaborated with the training of the students regarding academic training, considering that knowing the correct diagnosis and early treatment of the previous open bite they are essential to form a quality professional and equipped with scientific basis for their subsequent performance.
