Associação entre sintomas da disfunção temporomandibular e estresse em professor de Santo Antonio De Jesus - BA

Abstract

A disfunção temporomandibular se caracteriza por um conjunto de problemas clínicos que envolvem os músculos mastigatórios e a articulação temporomandibular. Sua etiologia é multifatorial, sendo um deles, os fatores psicossociais. Os docentes lidam diariamente com situações de estresse e tensão, que podem provocar o adoecimento físico e mental nesses profissionais. Nessa perspectiva, o objetivo geral do estudo foi investigar a associação entre os sintomas da disfunção temporomandibular e estresse em professores de Santo Antônio de Jesus-BA. Os objetivos específicos foram: avaliar o nível de estresse presentes nos professores; identificar os sintomas da disfunção temporomandibular nos docentes e correlacionar os sintomas da desordem com o estresse nesses indivíduos. O estudo se trata de uma pesquisa de cunho descritivo, com abordagem quali-quantitativa, realizada com professores de Santo Antonio de Jesus-BA. Foram aplicados dois questionários para averiguar os sintomas da disfunção e o nível de estresse dos profissionais. O projeto foi registrado na Plataforma Brasil e foi realizada a submissão e análise de um Comitê de Ética e Pesquisa. Depois de aprovado, foi dado início a pesquisa. Neste estudo, 83% demonstraram nívem intermediário de exposição ao estresse do trabalho e 76% das professoras apresentaram pelo menos um sintoma da desordem. A correlação entre a quantidade de sintomas com a exposição ao estresse, não foi estatisticamente significativa. Houve significancia apenas a correlação entre a quantidade de sintomas e o nível educacional de atuação das profissionais (p=0,256*). Este estudo poderá contribuir na etiologia da Disfunção Temporomandibular e na valorização do Cirurgião Dentista para o diagnóstico e tratamento adequados, além de instigar melhorias no ambiente de trabalho de profissões estressantes e a preocupação na qualidade da saúde mental, levando à reflexão do impacto causado quando negligenciada. _________________________________________________________________________________ Temporomandibular dysfunction is characterized by a set of clinical problems that involve the masticatory muscles and the temporomandibular joint. Its etiology is multifactorial, one of them being psychosocial factors. Teachers deal daily with situations of stress and tension, which can cause physical and mental disorders in these professionals. From this perspective, the general aim of this study was to investigate the association between temporomandibular dysfunction symptoms and stress in teachers from Santo Antônio de Jesus-BA. The specific aims were: to evaluate the level of stress present in teachers; to identify the symptoms of temporomandibular dysfunction in teachers and to correlate dysfunction symptoms with stress in these individuals. The study was a descriptive one, with a qualitative quantitative approach, carried out with teachers from Santo Antonio de Jesus-BA. Two questionnaires were applied to determine the symptoms of dysfunction and the level of stress in these professionals. The project was registered in the Plataforma Brasil and was submitted to and analyzed by a Research Ethics Committee. After being approved, the research was started. In this study, 83% demonstrated an intermediate level of exposure to job stress and 76% of the female teachers had at least one symptom of the disorder. When correlating the amount of symptoms with exposure to stress, it was not statistically significant. There was significance only to the correlation between the amount of symptoms and the educational level of performance of the professionals (p=0.256*). This study may contribute to the etiology of Temporomandibular Dysfunction and the valorization of the Dental Surgeon for the adequate diagnosis and treatment, besides instigating improvements in the work environment of stressful professions and the concern with the quality of mental health, leading to reflection on the impact caused when neglected.
