Motivos que levam ao não isolamento absoluto na dentística restauradora: percepção do cirurgião dentista do recôncavo da Bahia

Abstract

A longevidade das restaurações de resina composta depende, sobretudo, de uma cavidade livre de contaminação por fluidos salivares e microrganismos. Em vista disso o isolamento absoluto do campo operatório possui a finalidade de eliminar ou diminuir a umidade do meio bucal, controlar a contaminação, melhorar a visualização e proporcionar segurança e conforto ao paciente. Nessa perspectiva, o estudo traz como objetivo geral: entender os motivos que levam o cirurgião-dentista a não utilizar o isolamento absoluto na dentística restauradora. Como objetivos específicos: traçar o perfil profissional; verificar as facilidades e limitações que os participantes apresentam sobre o objeto de estudo; averiguar o conhecimento sobre a importância do isolamento absoluto na dentística restauradora; averiguar as estratégias dos cirurgiões-dentistas diante a não utilização do isolamento absoluto em seu dia a dia clínico. O procedimento metodológico se apresenta como uma pesquisa descritiva de abordagem quantitativa, com análise de dados tabulados no Excel e tratado em seguida através de frequência absoluta e relativa. O estudo foi conduzido na modalidade online, através de um questionário na plataforma Google Forms. Os participantes do estudo foram cirurgiões-dentistas atuantes no recôncavo da Bahia. A análise da pesquisa mostrou o perfil demográfico dos participantes, que em sua maioria afirmam não utilizar o isolamento absoluto durante os procedimentos restauradores, alegando como motivo principal o tempo gasto para aplicação da técnica, ainda que cientes da comprovada eficácia do isolamento e dos benefícios proporcionados. _______________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT The longevity of composite resin restorations depends, above all, on a cavity free from contamination by salivary fluids and microorganisms. Therefore, the absolute isolation of the operative field has the purpose of eliminating or reducing humidity in the oral environment, controlling contamination, improving visualization and provide safety and comfort to the patient. From this perspective, the study's general objective is to understand the reasons that lead dentists not to use absolute isolation in restorative dentistry. Specific objectives include: designing a professional profile; verify the advantages and limitations that participants present regarding the object of study; investigate knowledge about the importance of absolute isolation in restorative dentistry; to investigate the strategies of dental surgeons when not using absolute isolation in their daily clinical routine. The methodological procedure presents itself as a descriptive research with a quantitative approach, with analysis of data tabulated in Excel and then treated using absolute and relative frequency. The study was conducted online, using a questionnaire on the Google Forms platform. The study participants were dental surgeons working in the Recôncavo region of Bahia. The analysis of the research showed the demographic profile of the participants, most of whom stated that they did not use absolute isolation during restorative procedures, citing the time spent applying the technique as the main reason, even though they were aware of the proven effectiveness of isolation and the benefits provided.
